Visit some of Copenhagen's classic attractions
Copenhagen is a metropolis with many different neighborhoods and attractions, but if you're visiting the city for the first time, or are only in town for a few days, it might be a good idea to stop by some of Copenhagen's landmarks. Read more about some of Copenhagen's most famous attractions here on the page.
Shopping on Strøget
Copenhagen is home to one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets, Strøget. All Copenhageners know the pedestrian street that runs through the entire inner city from the City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv. Strøget actually consists of several streets that "join together" as one long pedestrian street. Strøget is known for its many shops, especially clothing and shoe stores, and the large department stores Illum and Magasin are also located here. For more unique shopping experiences, it might be a good idea to move a little away from Strøget – for example, the area Pisserenden, which is about 10 minutes from Højbro Plads (located in the middle of Strøget). In Pisserenden, you'll find vintage shops, music stores, galleries, and shops with upcoming clothing designers.
See the city from the top of a tower
Do you like seeing things from above? Copenhagen offers several different towers from which there is a great view of the beautiful city. The classic choice is the Round Tower, which is located on Strøget and is one of Copenhagen's landmarks. The tower was built around 1640 by order of Christian IV and was originally built as an astronomical observatory. Today, the tower is mostly used as a viewpoint; since the tower's observation platform is about 35 meters above street level, it can offer a good view of Copenhagen. Another tower that can offer a splendid view of the city is the Church of Our Saviour in Christianshavn. The church is known for its beautiful spiral spire, which, with about 400 steps, leads one high above Copenhagen.
